One characteristic of note is that the Veil is said to allow its wearer to shapeshift in some manner, similarly to the northern European myths of selkies. The Veil is an item of some mystery, and its abilities and attributes are not fully understood even by those who seek it - in the scope of the game, a pair of Alfar named Finna and Arbos. The Selkie Veil is a piece of mage's armor wrought by the renowned Fae trickster mage Amman the Clever. As it is a spear, the player cannot wield the Piercing Light.
The player manages to recover the weapon for Tilera at the ruins of Urul-Tusk. The Piercing Light's powers are something of an enigma, as the weapon is both widely known through legend, but very little detail of its abilities is explicitly known, aside from the scant recollections of its past holders.
The Piercing Light is a spear of legend that is the prize which the famous, or infamous, General Tilera retreated to the Cradle of Summer in search of, in the hopes that its power would be able to beat back the Tuatha at the siege of Mel Senshir.
